Hannibal Rising by KelseyBeckett Hannibal Rising by KelseyBeckett
"Hannibal Rising" reworked cover. Novel by Thomas Harris.

I'm less than motivated as of late. I feel like all the work I do is so static and boring...dead.
I feel like I'll never be good enough to go out and compete with the greatness that is out in the "real" world :(

Just gonna go crawl in a corner and die, now.

Well it's not an action pose, but it's amazing to see that varied linework hang out with a face made of perfect gradients. And that's not boring at all.

OMG it's Mischa! <3 I think this is a brilliant cover - Mischa and the whole situation they went through is so crucial to the story, so I think it was a really good choice to go with her (and the creepy looming Nazi). I love the look on her face as well. Accusatory.

dammit, happens the same too me, the illustration world is tough
specially when illustrators want to compete in the market and stand from the others, the best we can do is just promote ourselves as hell.

Don't say that. I think your work is amazing, and there's always people for different tastes, for example this is awesome and certainly an editorial would love this. I understand you though, I usually feel the same, because I see others artists, and I'm so not there yet, and is depressive, and is a burden, but then I look around, and see other artists that are not better than me and have good jobs, you can always make it. And I feel so identified by you. My style has changed so much in the lasts years, and that also makes me feel insecure, like I have no style at all, but I see you, your improvement and I think 'awesome' and traspassing that to me, it makes me feel better.

So keep the mood up =)! Chances come for the ones that keep goin', and you're definitely a person that keeps pushing forward.

This is great, the broken up statue look really grabs me.

And the color choices are warm. I like that a lot right now considering it's all cold and shit.

Still can't believe they ate Mischa.

Fantastic pic, if I were a hardcore fan of that lit piece I'd buy a print.

I know I'm no one at all, but if I may be allowed to interject, I'd say your work is anything but static and boring. Especially not dead. It pulses with a life and a fire of its own.
